About

Who made this, and how it decides anything.

This site is a free resource made by Scribe Media, a book writing and publishing company in Austin, Texas that has published more than 3,000 books, including 23 New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers.

Why it exists

Scribe Media works with many professionals who are weighing a book: financial advisors, attorneys, physicians, dentists, consultants and coaches. They ask the same questions. Will a book actually help my practice? What would it be about? How do I use it with clients? What will my compliance team, my bar or my privacy officer say? Where do I find the time, and how do I keep client confidences out of it? This site answers those questions as plainly as possible, whether or not you ever work with Scribe.

Scribe sells book writing and publishing services, so you should know where the advice comes from and where its limits are. That is what the rest of this page is for.

Nothing here is legal, compliance, medical or financial advice

The regulatory sections on this site point to the primary rules (FINRA, the SEC, the American Bar Association's Model Rules and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) and list what a reviewer will typically look at. They do not tell you what applies to your situation. Rules change, firms and states apply them differently, and only your compliance department, your state's lawyer ethics authorities, your privacy officer or your own counsel can decide what you may publish. Likewise, nothing in the author stories is investment, legal or medical advice to you.

How the worksheet works

The How a Book Fits My Practice worksheet asks about your clients, your referral partners, your first meeting and the questions clients ask, and turns your answers into a one-page plan of where a book would do work in your practice. You can print it or save it as text. It does not score you, predict revenue or estimate a return; this site never puts a number on what a book will earn you. The worksheet runs in your browser and sends nothing unless you choose to send the optional form.

Where the author results come from

  • Every author result on this site comes from a published Scribe Media success story, and each result links to the full story on scribemedia.com. Figures are copied as the stories state them.
  • They are strong results from individual authors, not typical ones. Nobody can promise them, and most came after years of expertise and active use of the book.
  • The site does not use averages, industry statistics about what authors earn, or made-up examples presented as real. Examples labelled "hypothetical" are illustrations, not people.
  • Scribe Media facts (3,000+ books, 23 bestsellers, prices) come from scribemedia.com and its pricing page.

Where the rules come from

Each was checked on the primary source on October 20, 2026, and is linked where it is discussed:

If a detail could not be confirmed on the primary source, it was left out. If you spot something out of date, email privacy@scribemedia.com and it will be corrected.

Talking to Scribe
